The Great Promise. Todays devotion! It talks about being unselfish, thinking about others instead of always thinking about yourself. Isaiah 58:9-12.
It says 'do away with the yoke of oppression'. Apparently, as i just found out (thanks to google), yoke of oppression means like, unjust power over someone, slavery i guess. So we must stop slavery, and things that cause people to be forcefully ruled over in unfair ways.
Then there's 'stop pointing the finger and speaking evil'. Which is quite obvious- no GOSSIPING, and speaking about others behind their backs, no judging people, no pushing the blame on others. Firstly, because its mean, and also because when you judge others, you will be judged too.
And last but definitely not least, 'feed the hungry, satisfy the afflicted'. Be there to help people. Emotionally, physically, financially etc. Help the poor and needy. Help the emotionally hurt, the physically hurt.
And if you do all this with a good heart, and faith in God, and really really mean it. Good things will happen (: I don't mean it like its a good luck charm, or a ticket to heaven or something. You shouldn't do good things just so that you can have face and be on good terms with the Lord. It must be done with a willing heart that truly cares. And don't expect good things to suddenly happen, like your parents decide to get you an expensive handphone. Good things as in, broken families become whole again. Remember not to think about yourself so much!!
Ok, you know what. I'm terrible at explaining this stuff. Just go get the booklet- 40Day08 Beyond Words July1>>August9. That's what it says on the cover. You don't buy it at a bookstore obviousely, you should be able to get it from your church.
BYEBYE. <33
